How We Work
As a search and selection agency, we facilitate introductions and recruitment. Contracts and payroll remain between the employer and crew member.
Getting Started in Yachting
If you are new to the industry, typical entry-level roles include::
MLC Compliance & Ethical Recruitment
IYC Crew operates in accordance with internationally recognized recruitment standards and upholds strict ethical policies in line with the International Labour Organization Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC 2006).
As a search and selection agency, IYC Crew:
We believe recruitment should be fair, transparent, and free from exploitation. Procedures are in place to ensure that no seafarer is pressured or unfairly influenced regarding engagement on specific vessels or with particular employers.
Important Information for Crew on Private Yachts
Crew placed on private yachts will be informed that the ILO Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC 2006) does not apply to certain vessels.
We always strongly encourage crew to sign a Seafarer Employment Agreement (SEA) before joining any yacht.
We also inform crew of the potential risks of working on vessels flying the flag of a country that has not ratified MLC 2006, as employment agreements may not be MLC-compliant.
Grievance Procedure
IYC crew will respond to all grievances and complaints. Following placement by IYC crew, for any grievance or complaint, please follow the procedure as outlined onboard the vessel that you are employed on.
If you are not able to resolve the issue with the onboard procedure, please email us at crew@iyc.com. Upon receipt, IYC will send an email acknowledging your complaint within
7 working days and will investigate the complaint. If the seafarer feels that the complaint has not been addressed properly, they should contact the relevant authority or flag administration.
We’re here to make your recruitment and job search experience simple, transparent, and rewarding.
